The Mother Tongue Languages Symposium (MTLS) 2016 , held today in Suntec Convention Center, is an annual event co-organised by the Ministry of Education (MOE) and the Mother Tongue Language Learning and Promotion Committees (MTLLPC).
Into its fifth year, MTLS 2016 promotes bilingual education and supplement efforts by schools and the community in the teaching and learning of Mother Tongue languages, amidst Singapore's increasing number of English-speaking families.
In today's symposium, Saraswathy Kindergarten performed a dance representation of Agaramudala ezuthellam to highlight the joy of using Tamizh everyday.
This event was a big success with 20 sharing sessions and workshops, 40 exhibition booths by pre-school centres, schools and their partners showcasing innovative teaching methods and community programmes, all-day language performances and activities, and the sale of MTL learning resources.
